After the death of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama the IKO KYOKUSHIN-KAIKAN split up into three major groups:

IKO : Matsui group
IKO : Sanpei group
IKO : Matsushima group

The IKO Matsushima is a Kyokushin Karate Organization devoted to the heritage of the late Sosai Masutatsu Oyama founder of the Kyokushin style and works with open mind.

It has a fully democratic constitution, which consists of a General Assembly for constitutional matters and an International Committee for the daily management of the organization.

Every member is free to participate on events organized by any other organization. Every member can ask anybody to participate at events organized by himself.

No prejudices are made for race, religion, affiliation or whatever reason.

The IKO consists today of over 20 Japanese and many overseas branches.

Until a new International Committee is elected by all the branch chiefs end 1998 the International Committee consists of :

Shihan Yoshikazu Matsushima as President and technical director
Shihan John Taylor as Vice-president, responsible for the international branches & international liaison officer.
Shihan Hiroshi Masuda as secretary
Shihan Tomokoschi Anzai as accountant
